KOREAN PHONE MAKER Samsung has announced that its Galaxy S3 smartphone has already topped 30 million sales, just days after its Note 2 handset hit the three million milestone.
Samsung confirmed the news to The INQUIRER, saying its Galaxy S3 flagship has reached 30 million sales worldwide since it went on sale six months ago. It was less than two months ago that Samsung announced that the Galaxy S3 had hit 20 million sales - which means the firm has sold around 10 million handsets despite the launch of the Iphone 5.
"The Galaxy S3 continues to be a runaway favourite with customers around the world," JK Shin, head of Samsung's IT and mobile communications division said in a statement.
It's unclear whether the Samsung Galaxy S3 is beating the Iphone 5 in terms of sales, although we do know that Apple shifted 5 million of its latest smartphones in their opening weekend.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy S3 is selling at a much faster rate than its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S2, which took much longer to reach the 30 million sales figure.
We're not all that surprised that the Galaxy S3 has been flying off the shelves, as we scored it nine out of 10 in our review. That's thanks to its nippy 1.4GHz quad-core CPU, 4.8in HD AMOLED touchscreen, 8MP rear-facing camera with HD 1080p video and Samsung's unique Android operating system tweaks that include Smart Stay and Pop-up Play. ?
