BEAVERTON, Ore. -- The Mayor's Youth Advisory Board (MYAB) recently collected more than 540 pounds of food during the organization's second annual Trick or Eat canned food drive this past Halloween. All donations benefited the Tualatin Valley Gleaners.
MYAB members canvased neighborhoods a week before Halloween, leaving fliers on doorsteps informing residents that they would be asking for non-perishable food donations on Halloween instead of candy.
"It's wonderful to see Beaverton's youth taking such an active role to help those in-need," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "I'm continually impressed by MYAB's efforts to promote youth volunteerism in our community. As the holiday season approaches, I encourage everyone to find ways to help those who are struggling."
