Internet online affiliate marketing networks provide an environment where companies who have something to sell (Advertisers) talk with businesses who know how to sell it (Publishers). Many large Internet affiliate marketing networks offer hundreds of products to be sold on their network of thousands of publishers.
Internet online affiliate marketing networks generally work on an efficiency basis (CPA), in which you only pay when a sale or lead is generated for you. You receive a sale or lead for a predetermined cost and then award the associate network with a bounty for making the sale or lead for you. The Associate network then will pay their marketers for producing sales for you, minus what the ?network ? keeps for itself for putting the offer together. This may sound just like a shopping portal, however there are some distinct differences. A shopping portal places your products in direct reference to the internet shopper. Internet affiliate marketing networks place your product or service in direct connection with publishers (marketing or media companies.) Each publisher will then use their own resources to create sales for you, whether it is PPC, SEO, e-mail, banners and the like.
Not every products or services work with an internet online affiliate marketing campaign, and many associate networks won?t accept your offer except certain criteria are met. The typical website is not ?marketing ready? for an online marketing campaign, and frequently requires a redesign or a separate web site to allow for easy sales or lead conversions. Most sales lead generating campaigns work across affiliate marketing networks so long as you aren?t looking to collect too much data, or information that makes your customers feel concerned such as a social security number. For product sales, you need to present a very attractive offer like ?a free 7 day trial for a diet pill?, ?free services for 1 month?, or something that can be viewed as a low risk bargain. An offer such as ?a 42 inch plasma screen Television for only $1,597? won?t work. Remember, there are exceptions, and you may need to work closely with your affiliate manager to generate a campaign that will be popular amongst the publishers.
As a result of nature of the affiliate networks, they can be volatile and risky, and they are not recommended for any company until they have a lot of internet marketing experience under their belt. The general sales potential of associate network marketing could be enormous, and any time huge sales numbers come into play, so do large risks. Many associate networks have what are known as ?Super Affiliates? who have the potential to make hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales revenue every month. The volatility stems from both the marketing power available using an affiliate network, combined with performance-based environment they offer.
In most cases, the publishers who do the selling through the affiliate networks are greedy. They would like to sell only the products and services that yield them the best income. It is their right, after all, since they?re working on a performance basis and assume all marketing risks.
