Concrete Bathroom Sinks - Things to Consider while planning ...

Concrete is really a wonderful substance. It can be used for so many different purposes that it is sometimes hard to imagine that how could such a useful substance be only such averagely popular amongst the people. It is durable enough to last for decades without having to be repaired too often, it is strong to make any sort of building or be used in buildings and malleable to be brought into any shape and last and the most important it now offers a large amount of finishing options so it is a great option for bathroom and kitchen interiors.

Concrete sinks and countertops are already very famous amongst people. They were introduced about a decade ago but have become very famous especially because of the vast amount of concrete mixtures that are available and even a larger number of fabrication options that are available. The fact is that concrete can be used to create unbelievable fine designs and styles which is impossible with any other material.

Here are a few factors that affect the overall look of the concrete kitchen and concrete bathroom sinks and countertops: Aggregates: Concrete requires fine aggregates for strength and durability. They are the main composition of the concrete. They should allow the concrete to settle. They also have a role to play in the aesthetics of the countertop or sink. Fine aggregates like sand will give a different look as compared to any other type of aggregates like broken glass, gravel, granite chips, or nuts and bolts.

Portland cement: This is the second most important part of the concrete. It leaves a grey color after settling down. If the final finishing is desired of any other color, then the Portland cement should either be dyed or stained. White Portland cement is the most often used type in such cases. It can also be a great option if a shiny, smooth white finishing is desired.

Sealers: Concrete is porous and therefore it leaves air holes after settling down. Sealers will give a smooth and flat look however in some interiors the natural concrete also looks good. Surface Finishes: There are various kinds of finishes available which include the flat, polished, stamped and impressed, textured or troweled.

Edge shapes: A large number of edge shapes are possible with the concrete countertops because concrete can be virtually molded into any shape. These can be egg shape, rounded, bull nose, diamond, wave etc.
