Preparing For The IELTS

Even though there are some tricky element elements in it, the test isn't especially hard. There are many tests written annually across the globe, but reeling in nearly 2 million aspirants within the same period cycle makes the IELTS more reputable than most. And each year, more people sit for it still, always glad for the opportunity.

The meaning of IELTS is International English language Testing System. You would have to take this really international test to get admission into many schools in the world, and even up to 3,000 such institutions in the United States. People seeking admission in countries like Ireland and the UK, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia, and Canada don't get it any different when it comes to this examination. Why, you must write it if you seek immigration into Canada or even Australia despite them being two of the most immigration friendly nations in the world.

It is a test for your skills in English, that's what IELTS is all about, and its name says it. All it does is it offers you a collection of questions that have been carefully designed to test your oral, phonetic, and grammatical mastery of the language. It has reading, writing, speaking, and listening segments, referred to as modules. The segments for writing and reading each are allowed up to one hour to complete, but with the module for listening, you will be allowed only two thirds of that time and no more. No more than 14 minutes and no fewer than 11 - that's all you have for 'speaking', which means the whole assessment will not completely take up three hours of your time.

The trustworthy organizations that mutually co-manage this assessment are three in number. These would be the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the British Council, and the IDP Education Pty Ltd. One of the world's oldest universities, Cambridge is also one of the most prestigious; the international Development Program (IDP) Education helps with placing students in the US, the UK and in Australia; and the British Council, which generally handles education and cultural opportunities on an international scale, is actually a charity. Cambridge's ESOL program - English for Speakers of Other Languages - is world renown, and combined with input from IDP and British Council, it makes the IELTS assessment that much more efficient.

You could have either of two version of the examination, which are general training or academic. With the academic test, you could get a skilled engagement or admission for higher education; while with the general training assessment, you'd perhaps only be interested in a non-academic or immigration-related purpose prospect, all for nations in which English is the lingua franca. Scoring could range from "band 0" through "band 9" based on your performance, and there's an 'expert' consideration accompanying the highest grade. However, it is up to each institution to determine based on scores which threshold they'd prefer to admit their own students at. Two years are too long, on the other hand, for you to expect that your score would still be valid, as the only way you would still be able to employ them in seeking and securing admission is if you can provide evidence that your spoken English is still exquisite because you worked on it? or if you just went and rewrote the exam.
